Meet Titus!
African grey parrots are one of the most intelligent and talented birds in the world! Native to the rainforests of West and Central Africa, these parrots are known for their stunning grey feathers, bright red tails, and incredible ability to mimic human speech and other sounds.
African grey parrots are not just amazing talkers. They play a vital role in their ecosystems by eating fruits and seeds, helping to disperse seeds and maintain healthy forest habitats. Sadly, they are facing severe threats in the wild due to habitat loss and the illegal pet trade, making conservation and education crucial for their survival.
At Chehaw, our African grey parrot serves as an ambassador for intelligence, communication, and conservation. Watching them interact, problem-solve, and “talk” teaches visitors about the amazing cognitive abilities of birds, the importance of protecting rainforest habitats, and why wild animals should never be taken from their homes. These clever parrots show us that brains, personality, and social connections are just as impressive as beauty and color.
