Meet Denim!

Blue-tongued skinks are a striking and curious lizard native to Australia and parts of Indonesia. These reptiles are easily recognized by their shiny, smooth scales, stout bodies, and most famously, their bright blue tongues, which they use to warn predators and communicate.

Blue-tongued skinks play an important role in their ecosystems as omnivores, eating insects, fruits, and small plants. By controlling insect populations and helping disperse seeds, they contribute to a balanced and healthy environment. Their calm demeanor and curious nature make them wonderful ambassadors for reptiles at Chehaw.

At Chehaw, our blue-tongued skinks helps visitors learn about reptile adaptations, survival strategies, and the diversity of lizards around the world. Watching them flick their bright blue tongues and explore their habitat up close is a fun way to see how even small reptiles have clever ways to protect themselves and thrive in the wild.
