Meet Charlotte!

The Chilean rose tarantula is a gentle giant of the spider world! Native to the deserts and scrublands of Chile, these tarantulas are known for their striking reddish-pink “rose” colored hairs and calm, slow-moving nature. Despite their intimidating appearance, they are docile and rarely bite, making them fascinating animals to observe up close.

Chilean Rose Tarantulas play an important role in their ecosystems as predators of insects and other small invertebrates. By keeping insect populations in check, they help maintain balance in their habitats and contribute to a healthy desert ecosystem.

At Chehaw, our tarantula helps teach visitors about arachnid biology, the importance of all creatures, big or small, in the natural world, and why spiders should be appreciated rather than feared. Watching them move and explore reminds us that even creatures with eight legs can be fascinating, helpful, and full of personality!
